Considered to be the sport of warriors the sweet science has captivated fans and viewers alike. Cheering on colorful characters like Muhammed Ali and Mike Tyson. Also admiring underdogs like Roberto Duran. We watch these fighters risk their lives and we often think we would never do such a thing. This would take so much courage and bravery. Though if we look closely at boxing we see its often the sport of big talking cowards. Fighters that just advance by selling an image. Such fighters sell a personality and often fight no one of any real danger or threat. In reality this hurts the sport of boxing. Leaving the fans clamoring for a fight that would be called fight of the century. No, they take easy fights they know they can win, against opponents that are below level. Its best for the sport of boxing that the likes of Floyd Mayweather Jr and Joe Calzaghe just walk away. Fighters like these were never tested, fought a long list of no-names and never was fighters, and in their cases fighting washed up fighters. For the sport of boxing to flourish and not be blind sided by an up and coming MMA they need to embrace fighters like Manny Pacaquiao and Shane Mosely. Real boxing warriors that will fight the best knowing the risks. So the next time as a viewer you sit and watch a bout of the sweet science remember that we want to see real fighters not just prepacked hype.
